H1N1.

RE: http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/singaporelocalnews/view/437803/1/.html

Somehow I don't understand why there needs to be a shift from 'containment' to 'mitigation'. Isn't it better to both contain and mitigate?

It seems rather risky to me if we allow the schools to stay open as scheduled. Should more get infected and the virus mutates into a more malignant form, we're seriously screwed.

I was having a mini-discussion with my father about the 1-week self-quarantine scheme for students who have been to infected areas, and we weren't very convinced. Unless there's a way to actually enforce it, there will always be people who will go to school once it reopens. How many kiasu Singaporean parents will willingly keep their children at home for an entire school week?

"Go to school! Don't miss lessons/test! Not H1N1 la! Choy!!!"

Because there's no way to contain it. One third of the global population will get it anyway. Like what they said, 'It's only a matter of time.'
